Hair Platoon

Hair Platoon
©1994 by Susan Noyes Anderson

My hair marches across my head.

Left face. Right face. Full speed ahead.

A hair platoon, in disarray,

With soldiers who will not obey.

Some stepping here. Some strutting there.

Some standing straight up in the air

At full attention, as they please.

I’ve had enough, Hair. Stand at ease.

Obey my orders. Call me ‘Sir.’

Dismissed. Fall out!

(Oops.)

As you were.

  4. Not Fall OUT! Are you crazy?

Don't you sometimes wish you were a man and could rock the shaved head?

Or that we lived in the days where hats were cool everywhere?

    Me too.

  9. Excellent! We've both got hair that marches to it's own beat and does what ever it wants most of the time. Some times we tackle it to tame it.

  18. Just when I think I have a handle on it, it decides to do things a little differently so I'm constantly changing styling tools and product. Loved this poem!

  21. In my teen years it used to be a bad day when I had a hair platoon! But I refuse to have my day ruined by my hair anymore!!

  22. FALL OUT!!! Noooooo!!

It was wet and windy here yesterday morning and I was on early playground duty. By the time the school day started, my hair looked like I had dragged it through a hedge backwards!

  28. I have been in the bed for the last two weeks, and have had serious bed-hair! Rod has tried to straighten it out a couple of times because I have looked so goofy! I was able to stand in the shower yesterday and wash it, which made us both happy!!
