Oh Happy Day!

I am going to the outlets with my son today, so Jenny couldn't have picked a better morning to throw us a 16-word, autobiographical Centus curve! Yes, we are supposed to tell about when we were sixteen. (And yes, I truly was...once.) The prompt is the picture.

Bye, now. I'm off to retail heaven with one of my favorite guys!!

I turned sixteen in May, 1968, a month before graduating high school. Oh happy dayriver's license!

  3. I didn't get mine 'til years later, but the driver's license was the reason to celebrate the 16th.
    Hope shopping was fun.
    Be well, Sue.

  6. Oh the world when I was 16. Big Macs were .89 and gas was about the same.
    Those were the days.

  9. How in the world did you graduated at 15?? You must have skipped lots of years. So then did you go on to college when you were 16?

  11. Ah, the memory of those keys in my hand - even if I did nearly have a breakdown when I took the drivers test!

  12. I remember that frabjous day of getting my drivers license! You beat me by a year!

  13. And yes, you did go on to college at 16 and graduated at 20.

I'm glad I didn't go shopping with you. I am actually getting to HATE shopping. Fortunately, I don't have to do any of that for Christmas presents. Honestly though, this baking is doing me in.

The centus this week was an easy one. I haven't read any of the others yet, but I can imagine that getting a drivers license at that age is what most people would write about. I didn't get mine until I was 18. I must say that I did drive (a little bit) before I got my license too.

  14. Well, I was so wrong......I just finished reading 26 entries for the Centus and NOT ONE even mentioned getting a drivers license!!

  15. I was living on the East Coast when everyone in CA was taking driver's ed. (Driving age in NJ was 17) So I was a whole year behind by the time I moved back to CA - it was terrible! But at least I could date!

  16. Good memory to recollect....I am guessing 17 or 18 is high school graduation which makes you an early bird. :)

  18. Good story of your life. Were you one of those smart people who got to skip a grade?

  19. You smarty pants! Graduating so young, taking off for college with that new drivers license was quite an accomplishment! But I'm not surprised as I get to know you better. You are a smarty pants!

  20. Actually, my mom was just a mom who loved to teach her kids things early! She can pretty much teach anybody anything, at any age.

What I can definitely attest to is that when all your high school friends get their driver's licenses two years earlier than you do, the day you finally have one in your hand is a red letter moment!

    ;)

  21. Wow, Sue! You graduated high school early! That is amazing! Somehow, I can tell you have always been a remarkable person.

p.s. I actually waited a year later than allowed to get my license! Isn't that funny? I just wanted my big sister to drive me around so I could hang around her cool friend! :))

  22. That would be a key to many things... :)
