Y is for Yelp

Help, Yelp!
©2011 Susan Noyes Anderson

I need Yelp!
I surely do.
For shopping help,
Yelp sees me through...
friends steering friends
by word of mouth!
Who's bucking trends?
Who's going south?

What eateries
outshine them all?
Which doc for me?
Whom should I call?
She cuts with flair.
He styles with ease.
Can you compare
these for me, please?

It's all on Yelp
in black and white.
When you need help,
Yelp steers you right.
So lets be minions.
Spread the news!
Ya need opinions?
Yelp reviews!

(and then you choose)

=)

In response to several questions, yes it IS real. Yelp.com.

  11. Must be a western thing? We have Angie's List. Yelp must be the same kind of service as Angie's List. Actual people rating everything. I like it! If I buy online I always read the reviews.~Ames

  12. Great poem! Gotta be careful with Yelp and other such review sites though. I have a friend who is a small business owner and a customer who was being a jerk got mad and went home and wrote a rotten Yelp review. Now she'll never get her perfect rating back and it's because of someone who made unreasonable demands for services not offered. Satisfied people don't usually write reviews - only angry ones - and these businesses are people's livelihoods.

  14. I agree with Brian, they should pay you for this. It would be great for their advertising. Of course I have never heard of them, but will check it out. Maybe they just don't advertise. At any rate, I loved the poem.

  15. I've never heard of this - but it sounds like a great idea. So does the idea that Yelp should give you an honorarium for the advertising!
