Marriage: A Family Is Born

Man and woman.

Heaven’s grace

reaching, touching

altar’s lace.

Gift of God,

the sealing power.

Life eternal

from that hour

is theirs. A prize

to lose or keep

by covenant

that runs heart-deep.

A family born.

A promise sure.

If man and woman

but endure.

His seed also will I make to endure forever, and his throne as the days of heaven.

Psalms 89:29

  1. "IF a man and woman but endure" - mighty challenging. Why don't people think about the covenant before they leap? This was wonderful, Sue.

love, a verb, not a feeling that flies away. Love is an action word.

  16. Oh my, this is so good that I may have to use it for the wedding cards we sent out to those married in the temple. We have been using one of your other ones for years and always get comments on it. They are both so good though, it's going to be a hard choice. Could I use both or would that be overkill. Thanks for this one.

  17. I love the poem and the pic too. What's so sweet is we have Sister in our Branch who just got married. She's in her 60's...she was married before but to a non-member. They divorced. She's always wanted a Temple marriage. Probably thought it would never happen. Only it did this past June..her new hubby is 88! But they are both very happy and she has her heart's desire...an eternal marriage..they married in the Manti Temple...

And is the gorgeous picture that of the inside of a Mormon Temple? I have never been inside or seen the inside of a Mormon Temple. It is beautiful!

  25. Ooo, and I just LOVE the song you have with this one...it was the only song my husband requested to be sung at our wedding...and two of my best friends did an amazing job singing it. :) Thanks for the memories.

  26. People don't think about the covenant anymore - but it is one of the most beautiful promises if a couple endures.
