The Art of Staying Young

Can you believe this delightful woman is 90 years old?

No wonder we wanted to celebrate her birthday!

This guy braved a room full of women to pay tribute to her.

He quoted Robert Frost about the "road less traveled by."

She has "made all the difference" in many people's lives.

A dear friend and neighbor is singing her praises.

And I'm rhyming her praises.
(Why do I wear my clothes too big when I feel porky?)

Oops. I digress. Back to singing again...

(The singers are really fun girls!)

And the crowd's fun, too.

We even join in for a sing-along at the end.

Of course, our sweet friend feels like a million bucks.

(As well she should.)

Just look at her wonderful life.

And she is as sharp and beautiful as ever she was.

Which, as you can see here, is saying quite a lot.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DEAR FRIEND!

    I love IJ... wish I could have been there. She's one of my "favoritest peoples" in the whole wide world. So glad you got to help celebrate her.

    Hope that I can celebrate my ninety year birthday. She does look terrific. As for why you wear large clothes when you feel porky, I can totally relate..........the reason is that they feel so much more comfortable. I'm doing the same right now. We seem to be having a little trouble getting into the dieting mode. At least we haven't gained any since the first of the month.

    Back to your friend, I think it is great that so many of her friends were there to help her celebrate. When anyone can reach the ripe old age of 90 and sill keep their smarts, it is something to behold. Blessings to her.

    Whoa! She is quite the spring chicken. I'm in love with that last picture of her and I'm assuming her husband...just beautiful.
    What a great party and tribute. I wish I could have heard your poetry reading. And you hair is quite long!! It's grown so much.

    She still looks like she did when she was young...amazing!! She must have lived a wonderful life as she still looks so happy and "with it"!! Please pass on our birthday good wishes to her and tell her that I for one, think she is what anyone would aspire to in an age like that!

    That smile is a million watts! I'm always amazed how different people age. I'll see patients that are in their 60's and are more like 160, and then someone like your wonderful friend comes and blows us all away. She's a lucky woman to have aged so well, and have so many wonderful friends who love her! I'm sure that's part of keeping young at heart.

    How wonderful for her to celebrate a her life with so many good friends. Evidence of a life well lived. Hopefully she will have many more years as well.

    And I was just reading through your other posts. How wonderful that your tickets went to good use. I am sorry you didn't get to use them though. Still, it is so humbling to know that God used you to bless the life of another.

    I think it is interesting how what we view as a mistake was actually part of a plan. I once booked tickets for our family to go on a trip to London. I checked the dates carefully so it would be over spring break. Then later when I looked at the tickets I saw I had booked them for the week AFTER spring break. I was sick about it and could not figure out how that would happen since I had been so careful. But on the Friday before spring break, my best friends 22 year old son suddenly died. I was so glad I was home that week to be with her. And I was so grateful for the booking "mistake".

    So I am positively sure your "mistake" was not a mistake at all. But I still hope that some day he will come back and you can go to his concert. :-)

    What a fun party. I love the happy colors in the decorations.

    She has such a look of joy on her face...I hope I feel that way at 90. OK. I hope I feel that way at 60 but that might just be the Thursday talking.

    Happy Birthday to your friend!! I was at my neighbor's house Wednesday evening for a gathering of friends (we all used to work together for almost 10 years until they closed our office--long story). Anyway, one of the ladies from our group just turned 80. You would never know it--she glows with happiness, always smiles and is as sharp as ever. I so admire that.
    This is such a nice tribute to your lovely friend. I'm wondering, does she attribute her longevity to any one particular thing? I'd love to know.

    p.s. You look lovely and there is a glow of happiness that comes from your face. Not porky at all! You are beautiful.
