A lot of people asked, either by comment or through e-mail, what inspired the poem I wrote yesterday. Many were concerned that I was responding to some fresh hurt or loss in my own life, which was not the case, though obviously the thoughts were colored by past wounds. But the main impetus for writing it was my having heard about several tragic instances where young children were drowned recently...one in my mom's church (ward) and the others online. It was the confluence of tragedies, one upon the other, that got me thinking...and wondering...and asking myself questions.
I don't usually post you-tube videos, but this one has touched me deeply this morning. I find it uniquely reassuring to be visually and auditorily reminded how connected we all are...how able to lift and comfort one another...if we are willing (and can open ourselves to it). I would ask that you take a couple of minutes and stay with this inspirational piece until the end. I hope to share with each one of you the culminating effect, which is so powerful. I know you will not be sorry.

I love that! Thanks for posting this. It's very uplifing.
I love hugs...giving them and getting them is wonderful. I enjoyed the video. Hugs
That was really cool. Love that version of the song too. My Emma said to tell you she thinks "you're a really great woman" so now you have another new fan!
Beautiful, Sue. Thank you for this. My 3 year old, Helen, just gave me a hug after watching it.
I'm forwarding this to my dad. He's Italian (and a great hugger) and will love it.
Sue. I'm so glad to be getting to know you!
Hi Sue. Thanks for showing this! It made me a little sad in the beginning, because no one would give or get a free hug, but then as the hugs got more plentiful and the music crescendoed, it just gave me goose-bumps! I saw something similar to this on TV a while back, and I think it was just a couple of guys, somewhere in the US. Thanks again. (and I've also heard of recent tragic deaths, too, involving young people...either little children, or teens...It's a very confusing life sometimes, isn't it?
That is beautiful.
Well I'm not sure I could hug a stranger asking for a hug, but it was wonderful watching others do that. The music was great!
Thanks Sue. That was so beautiful. Brought a few little tears to my eyes. It would be fun to get a few people together and do that in San Francisco. I wonder what would happen.
For some reason my computer is not letting me view videos right now. But I do think it's important to be reminded how fragile life is once in awhile.
That was pretty cool, I loved the music, love love love. But I agree with Jill, I don't think I could hug a stranger in a strange unknown place. on the other hand we ALL need hugs. I remember someone said that everyone needed at least 9 hugs a day to feel loved and appreciated (the lecture was for moms), But I know my mother who lives alone LOVES hugs from people at church!!!
Hello Sue!
First of all, thanks for checking in with me yesterday... I really appreciate your sweet comment! And.. I LOVED the video! What a beautiful way to start my morning!
Thank you
dulcy
I love hugs and I did enjoy the video. My grandkids give the best hugs and I can never get enough of them. (I'm looking forward to getting some very soon)
I'm glad that you explained a bit about your reason for writing the poem. I would have hated that CJ would forever believe you had a great loss in your family recently. I hope that she knows now because I didn't see her post for the last couple of days.
As I was watching, my face slowly formed into a smile, growing bigger by the hug. Such a contrast to the music. I think I am in love with that video.
